Celebrating Over 20 Years!

Since 2002, GE has been providing engineering services to Northwest Florida and South Alabama. Mr. Dexter Gortemoller established GE with a passion to improve the local community and surrounding areas through valuable engineering services. Our Team is dedicated to creating quality designs and working together to provide solutions.

Note-Worthy Projects

GE has had the privilege to provide services on many projects in Bay County. It is always a pleasure for us to improve transportation and infrastructure in our local community. Please take a look at just a few of these note-worthy projects we led in Bay County, Florida.

Philip Grifftts Sr. Parkway Phase II

This project included the engineering and permitting for the 2.6-mile new 2-lane, 2-way roadways. GE provided design and evaluation for all Roadway Design Elements. This new roadway stretches from the Philip Griffitts Sr. Parkway Phase I segment to Nautilus Street in Panama City Beach, Florida.

Jenks Avenue Widening from Baldwin Road to SR 390 Design-Build

This project widened 1.3-miles of Jenks Avenue from a 2-lane roadway to a 5-lane roadway with sidewalk on both sides on the roadway. GE provided drainage system design, utility coordination, curb & gutter, signal design, and sign and pavement marking design. This project was the first project to be permitted through pollutant loading reduction in Northwest Florida Water Management District by providing off-site treatment compensation via an off-line wet detention facility.

Frankford Avenue Sidewalk Design-Build

GE provided design and engineering services, associated environmental permitting assistance and limited drainage review, utility coordination, sidewalk and roadway resurfacing for Frankford Avenue from 23rd Street to SR 390 in Bay County. This included stabilization of all disturbed areas and adding curb & gutter with a 6' sidewalk along both sides of Frankford Avenue.

12th Street Drainage

GE provided design and engineering services to reduce flooding and increase safety along 12th Street in Panama City, Florida. The project included preparation of construction plans to upgrade the existing conveyance system from 12th Street to 9th Street with approximately 2,325 linear feet of 42" pipe, supporting pipe, and additional drainage measures. GE coordinated closely with Bay County on the 11th Street resurfacing project to install the 42" cross drain.

Award-Winning Projects

GE is proud to have completed hundreds of projects with a variety of clients including the Florida Department of Transport, numerous public sector clients, and countless private section clients. We have had the honor of working with surrounding counties, cities, and local business owners. We value each and every project we've had the opportunity to provide services for. Amongst the hundreds of projects we've completed, we are proud to say that some have been award-winning.

Davisville Way

This project won an 2019 ACEC-FL Outstanding Project Award. This project was part of a 12-mile Shared Use Path ending at the St. Marks Trail in Wakulla County, Florida. Multiple agency coordination efforts were required including coordination with CRTPA, Florida Trail, Florida Native Plant Society and Wakulla County.

SR 30 Shared Use Path from Surf Road to

Tower Road

This project won a 2021 FTBA "Best in Construction Award" for the Rural Project category. It is a 2.6-mile Shared Use Path project in Wakulla County, Florida which included full right of way to make sure the trail was as far from US 98 (SR 30) as possible. It also included a boardwalk and multiple sheet pile walls to minimize impacts to wetlands.

Panama Commons Apartment Homes

This Apartment Community met platinum level LEED (Leadership In Energy And Environmental Design) for Homes criteria. GE provided professional engineering services for the 92 unit Apartment Complex. The design required close coordination with the City of Panama City, Northwest Florida Water Management District and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection staff. Stormwater facility, potable water, gravity sewer, and a traffic analysis were among the numerous design tasks for the apartment community.
